šŸ¤© Barca or Brighton? PL Weekend Review Edition āœØ

Plus, City's next signing, Messi has WHAT on his pizza? + Havertz first award this season

Gm football fans. Route One here.

Itā€™s the start of the week.

For some of you, (you know who Iā€™m talking about ā€” United fans cough cough), this wonā€™t be the easiest week in the office.

I recommend you keep a low profile.

Perhaps WfH or take a couple sickies? That way, no one will question your tears.

Anyway, enough of that fun.

Letā€™s get into it, shall we.

Todayā€™s newsletter includes:

  • ā˜•ļø Morning brief: Cityā€™s next priority signing, Chalobah off to Germany, Chris Wilderā€™s next destination?, and moreā€¦

  • šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’» Weekend review - everything you need to know *United fans, you may want to skip this section šŸ¤

UPCOMING PL FIXTURES

MORNING BRIEF

Everything you need to know

šŸ”“ Heckingbottom likely to be replaced by Sheffield United legend Chris Wilder. ā€œThis is not me moaning...ā€ said Heckingbottom after their loss to Spurs on Saturdayā€¦ before proceeding to moan for what felt like a lifetime.

šŸ™ŒšŸ» City look to sign Barcelonaā€™s wonder-kid Lamine Yamal over the summer. Itā€™s reported that the club have ā€œcome with everythingā€ (AKA a shit ton of money) to tempt the 16-year-old.

šŸ¤§ On the flip sideā€¦ Barcelona could make a shock loan move for Sancho in January. Well, thatā€™s if heā€™s still at the club by then.

šŸ¤” Chelseaā€™s Trevor Chalobah eyed by Bayern Munich for Januaryā€™s window. Why? You might ask. Donā€™t look at us, we havenā€™t a clueā€¦

šŸ˜² Newcastle lining up Ā£52m swoop for Lucas Paqueta, reported by Mail Sport. But, letā€™s face it, heā€™ll go to City.

šŸ˜¬ Kai Havertz named ā€˜Worst Dealā€™ of the recent transfer window in The Athleticā€™s agent survey - a survey that asked agents what they thinkā€¦

PL Weekend Review

šŸ”“āšŖļø Man United vs Brighton šŸ”µāšŖļø

Letā€™s face it, United were terrible.

But, that doesnā€™t take away from Brightonā€™s performance. De Zerbi has made The Seagulls play like prime Barcelona. Iā€™m talking ā€˜09 days.

Is Unitedā€™s poor start to the season a structural issue or just a blip? Hard to tell.

But, they have decent fixtures coming up with Burnley (A), Palace (H), Brentford (H) and Sheff United (A). Ten Haagā€™s hoping they can scrape a few wins as heā€™s beginning to run out of scapegoatsā€¦

šŸ”“āš«ļø Bournemouth vs Chelsea šŸ”µāšŖļø

Absolute snoozefest.

The only bit of excitement came before the game when Poch benched Chilwell. Oh yeahā€¦ and Conor Gallagher was Chelseaā€™s captain???

Anywayā€¦ NEXT.

šŸ”µāšŖļø Tottenham vs Sheffield United šŸ”“āš«ļø

FPL Assists

Harry Kane is pissed. Heā€™s sitting at home thinking, ā€œwhere were these players when I was there?ā€.

Anyway, this game shows why this is the best league in the world. You canā€™t lose concentration. Not even for a secondā€¦ 98th minute winner.

Richarlison reached 50 goals PL goals with his header. Could this be the turning point for his Spurs career? šŸ¤”

šŸŸ”āš«ļø Wolves vs Liverpool šŸ”“āšŖļø

Fun fact: Kloppā€™s side failed to win any lunchtime matches last season. Crazy, right?

Now, Liverpool extended their unbeaten run to 16 league matches.

Wolves had their moments of quality (could have been 3-0 up themselves) but the story of their season continues: they canā€™t score.

Itā€™s about time they get in some good olā€™ shooting practice.

šŸŸ¤šŸŸ” West Ham vs Man City šŸ”µāšŖļø

If you put Alvarez in your FPL team (like me), you must be feeling a little smug.

Pep roulette might come back into play soon but at Ā£6.8m, heā€™s currently a steal.

JĆ©rĆ©my Doku equaliser sparked Cityā€™s comeback. After that performance, heā€™ll be on every managerā€™s FPL watchlist.

The 6ft 5 Robot provided yet another return. Thatā€™s 7 in 5 now. Youā€™re not considering changing captainā€¦ are you? šŸ‘€

Side note: Ward-Prowse is looking like a good FPL differentialā€¦

āš«ļøāšŖļø Newcastle vs Brentford šŸ”“āšŖļø

There was only one star in this game: VAR. šŸ“ø

He always makes the headlines these days.

Was it a dive from Gordon? I meanā€¦ Flekken shouldnā€™t have rushed out and swiped his legsā€¦

Anyway, Newcastle did a good job of ending that 3-loss streak against a tough Brentford side.

They have a much easier run of games nowā€¦ is now the time to transfer in Trippier?

šŸ”µšŸŸ” Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace šŸ”µāšŖļø

How did that happen, then?

Villa were on the brink of a defeat. But, Emeryā€™s subs - DurĆ”n + Bailey - both scored to seal a late win.

Palace have had better days. Without Guehu and Lerma, it wasnā€™t going to be easy against this Villa side.

Still, itā€™s a promising start to the season for both sidesā€¦

āšŖļøāš«ļø Fulham vs Luton šŸ”µšŸŸ”

I mean, this wouldnā€™t have been my first choice watch from the weekend fixtures.

Butā€¦

Fulham get their first home win of the campaign. šŸ‘šŸ¼

And Luton did well to not concede more than 1, I guess?

šŸ”µāšŖļø Everton vs Arsenal šŸ”“āšŖļø

Tbh, it was far from edge-of-seat stuff.

But, I can appreciate good football when I see it. And thatā€™s what Artetaā€™s men do well.

I canā€™t help but think theyā€™d be a little disappointed with the overall performance. I guess thereā€™s nothing that Artetaā€™s dressing-room doodles canā€™t fixā€¦ šŸŽØ

Martinelliā€™s disallowed goal was legit in my book.

How is there only one angle for VAR in the top-flight? The biggest league in the world, over 2bil spent in the transfer windowā€¦ make it make sense. šŸ«¤
