Mbappé sues kebab shop

French star Kylian Mbappé is suing a kebab shop owner for using his name in the description of one of his sandwiches.

The owner of the kebab shop is Mohamed Henni, a Marseille-based influencer with 1.8 million followers on Instagram. The description of the Klüb kebab is that it is made with a “baker round bread, as round as Mbappé’s skull.”

On Wednesday, Henni received a certified letter, which was seen by ESPN, from Delphine Verheyden, Mbappé’s lawyer. The letter demands that Henni remove Mbappé’s name from his menu within eight days before taking him to court for using his name without consent for commercial purposes.

While it’s likely that Henni will remove the Frenchman’s name from the menu, fans can enjoy a Dimitri Payet sandwich with the description: “A crepe as loaded as Payet.”

Denmark ends The Super League

The Danish Superliga has successfully registered “The Super League” as a trademark with the EU. This was in response to the breakaway European Super League (ESL) attempting to register something similar.

The ESL was the brand chosen by 12 rebel clubs when they launched a breakaway from EUFA in 2021, a move that collapsed within days amid fierce opposition from fans and politicians.

According to ESL lobbyist A22, the breakaway league was expected to generate €5 billion annually and participating teams would earn 8% of league revenues with a minimum payment of €400 million. That’s more than double what they earn from the “current pan-European competition” according to A22.

Ironically, the Danish Superliga which has 12 teams and generates just £37 million per year has been able to put another roadblock to the ESL campaign which has only two remaining supporters, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

SIX NATIONS

England can win but still lose

The Six Nations will be decided this Sunday and four teams are still mathematically in with a chance of winning the competition.

As things stand, Ireland could lose to Scotland but still win the competition, even if England are victorious against France in Lyon. The determining factor will be the bonus points both teams receive in their match.

Bonus points are awarded to reward attacking rugby. An extra point is awarded to teams who score four tries or lose by seven or fewer points.

If Ireland are declared champions despite winning fewer matches than England, this would undermine the integrity of the competition.

Tom Harrison, Six Nations chief executive admits he would consider tweaking the bonus points system if it becomes problematic in the future. But there will be no changes to this weekend's rules and the possibility of England winning against France but losing the Six Nations remains.

Broccoli = preventing stroke?

Each year, about 15 million people globally experience a stroke. Depending on the type and severity, the main treatment is using medications to break down clots keeping blood from flowing to the brain.

Now, researchers from the Heart Research Institute in New South Wales, Australia, have found that a natural chemical found in broccoli may help to both prevent and treat stroke. The study was recently published Journal of American Chemical Society’s ACS Central Science.

The researchers found that broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables produce a unique class of natural products known as isothiocyanates, known for their chemopreventive and neuroprotective properties. The study also found that adding the broccoli-derived compound to tPA bumped the effectiveness of certain medication’s success rate from 10 to 60%.

This is not the first study looking at cruciferous vegetables and heart health. While there’s more work that needs to be done in the space, a study published in 2018 and another in 2020 showed a similar correlation.

TL/DR: The aim is to consume a combined amount of five to eight servings (one serving = one cup) of fruits or vegetables, dietitian nutritionist Monique Richard told Medical News Today. Moral of the story: eat your vegetables, kids.
