Head Start

Snooze-fest changes title trajectoryā€¦

Itā€™s safe to sayā€¦ the biggest game of the season was - um - a letdown.

The gameā€™s silver linings?

  • It was an excellent opportunity to catch up on some missed Daylight saving sleepā€¦ hoooonk mimimimi hooooonk mimimimi.

  • It gave the brightest nerds Opta Analyst a chance to reassess whoā€™s going to win the leagueā€¦

ā€¦ and with City vs Arsenal ending in a 0-0 draw, Opta now thinks that the club with the best chance of winning in the Premier League isā€¦ drum roll, pleaseā€¦

ā€¦ Liverpool.

And the stats based on spread betting markets agreeā€¦

@RobtFPL

While it might seem obvious as Liverpool are in pole position following their 2-1 win over Brighton, itā€™s the first time this season that Manchester City arenā€™t favourites to win the league.

But, Liverpool fans canā€™t get carried away just yetā€¦

  • Arsenal will feel confident that, of their remaining fixtures, they won all of last seasonā€™s corresponding games (except United away).

  • Manchester City will feel confident that they have (arguably) the best fixtures on paper.

Side note: In Fridayā€™s edition, one of our writers said that Manchester City vs Arsenal was going to be - I quote - ā€œa biggunā€.

Youā€™ll be pleased to know that we sacked him right after the final whistle.

Ok. Maybe not. Weā€™re not even sure thatā€™s legal.

But, as it didnā€™t deliver on its promise, here are some clips from the game to cheer you up:

  • Roy Keane says that Erling Haalandā€™s link-up play is ā€œalmost like a League 2 playerā€ (Watch)

  • Richard Keys is annoyed at Pep Guadiolaā€™s ā€œtiresomeā€ camera work (Watch)

  • Arsenal Fan TV celebrate their sideā€™s draw unashamedly (Watch)

Matchday 30 Stats Zone

Liverpool 2 - 1 Brighton

ā†’ Liverpool has secured the most points (26) from losing positions in the league this season. Spurs are second with 22.

ā†’ Alexis Mac Allister has provided as many assists for Liverpool in the Premier League (5 in 24 games), as he did for Brighton in 98 games.

Manchester City 0 - 0 Arsenal

ā†’ Manchester City and Arsenal played out a goalless draw for the first time since January 2011, with each of the last 33 meetings between the two sides in all competitions seeing at least one goal before today.

ā†’ City have failed to score at home for the first time in 47 straight league matches.

Brentford 1 - 1 Manchester United

ā†’ Brentford had 85 touches in the Manchester United box. Thatā€™s the most by a team in any Premier League match across the last three seasons.

ā†’ Brentfordā€™s record against the current top six this season is - well - not great: 10 games. 9 defeats. 1 draw. 0 wins.

Loan Watch

Tik-ing Off Birmingham fans

Birmingham loanee Oliver Burke has his fans riled.

Why?

Well, his side sits one place above the Championship relegation zone without a win in 7 games. But Burke is having a blast on TikTok with his fiancĆ©ā€¦

Megan Mckenna enjoying Oliverā€™s toad-in-the-hole

I mean what is life all about, ey? Weā€™ve all been love-struck and your team struggling doesnā€™t mean your whole life should stop.

Butā€¦ it has made the fans question the teamsā€™ loaned players:

"It sums up everything thatā€™s wrong with loan players, the lack of connection to our club and the fans," a Birmingham fan Tweeted.

No matter if he is right or wrongā€¦ we have a feeling Oliver and Megan will have to get used to Frankfurter-in-the-hole once heā€™s shipped back to Werder Bremen.
